Blacktown City progressed to the FFA Cup Round of 16 with a stunning 3-2 win over the Mariners.

A trip down memory lane: Blacktown City secure Mariners scalp

Blacktown City caused the second Australia Cup upset of 2017 after defeating Central Coast Mariners 3-2 in a thrilling Round of 32 contest.

Just a day after Heidelberg United stunned Perth Glory, Blacktown would create more history.

Gosford-born Joey Gibbs opened the scoring inside two minutes with a lovely free-kick before the Demons doubled their lead as Gibbs turned provider for Giorgio Speranza's excellent angled finish.

Kwabena Appiah-Kubi then bagged a brace with a goal either side of half-time to restore parity for Central Coast. His first was sensationally taken, creating space before bending a curling effort into the far corner.

His second he knew less about, helping bundle the ball home from close range as it ricocheted off his body.

There was time for more drama with Gibbs feeding the ball out wide before controlling the return pass and on the edge of the 18-yard box he executed a perfectly-placed finish beyond Adam Pearce.
