ACT Round 5 & 6 Fixtures Revealed

The Australia Cup Capital Football Preliminary Round 5 draw has opened the pathway for the eight remaining teams who now know exactly what they need to do to make the Final and have a shot at a place on the national stage in the Round of 32.

The three remaining Capital Premier League clubs have all drawn NPL opposition with two gaining home advantage whilst there is the potential for an all-CPL Semi-Final should both Tuggeranong United and Queanbeyan City emerge victorious from their respective ties.

West Canberra Wanderers were rewarded for their last-16 heroics against Canberra Croatia with a trip to Southside rivals Tuggeranong with the winner paired against the successful club from the spicy O’Connor Knights versus Queanbeyan City clash.

Meanwhile, Canberra Olympic, conquerors of holders Tigers FC will take on Belconnen United, who ended Gungahlin United’s interest in the competition in a tie which will pit many of the two squads lining up against their former clubs in the only all NPL fixture that was drawn.

The winner of that tie will face a trip to take on CPL powerhouse ANU FC or NPL Monaro Panthers, both teams who enjoyed good wins to open their competitive seasons as the students swamped Weston-Molonglo FC and the Panthers hammered Tigers FC in the Charity Shield before a more prosaic advancement past Wagga City Wanderers in Cup.
