Australia Cup Preliminary Rounds Weekend Preview

Tasmania

Australia Cup action kicks off for 2022 in Tasmania with Preliminary Round 3 taking place over the weekend.

On Friday night  Metro United will face Taroona in the opening match from the Apple Isle.

On Saturday Nelson Eastern Suburbs take on Launceston United while Northern Rangers host University SC.

Hobart United take on South East United in the final Round 3 match-up on Wednesday night.

Northern NSW

Northern NSW Northern Zone Preliminary Round action continues this weekend with four Round 4 fixtures taking place.

There are three games at the Coffs Football Centre on Saturday with Coffs Coast Tigers taking on Coastal Premier League new boys Bellingen FC before Coffs City United face Iona FC.

Saturday’s second clash shapes as a David vs Goliath tie with defending Coastal Premier League Premiers, who last year reached Preliminary Round 7 facing Iona FC, who booked their spot in Round 4 with a win in their first ever senior men’s match last weekend.

Boambee Bombers host Oxley Vale Attunga in the final match at the Coffs Football Centre for the weekend while Moore Creek Mountain Goats face Port Macquarie Saints at Gipps Street in Tamworth.

New South Wales

Although the wild weather wreaking havoc in NSW right now looks set to postpone a number of fixtures there is plenty of Preliminary Round 2 action scheduled to take place across the weekend.

The Preliminary Rounds got underway in NSW on Tuesday night with Wollongong United overturning a 2-1 half time deficit to defeat Peakhurst United 5-2 at Peakhurst Park Synthetic.

Woongarrah Wildcats host Belrose-Terrey Hills Raiders at Pluim Park on the Central Coast on Thursday night while Turramurra United are scheduled to face Glebe Gorillas in the solitary Friday fixture.

A further 27 matches are set to take place on Saturday and Sunday with Preliminary Round 2 action continuing through to the 22nd of March.

Queensland

Just one fixture will take place in Queensland this weekend following Thursday's draw.

Mackay Lions will host Whitsunday United in Preliminary Round 3 action in the Whitsunday Coast action. Match details TBA

Victoria

Sandringham take on Brimbank Stallions on Friday night after their Round 3 tie was unfortunately abandoned last weekend following after Robbie D'Angelo suffered a nasty leg break.

The match will restart from the 32nd minute with State League 4 outfit, Sandringham leading 1-0 against the Stallions who sit three tiers above them in the Victorian football pyramid.

The winner of Friday's match will face NPL Victoria side, Eastern Lions away in Preliminary Round 4.
