Avondale's Manyluak Aguek scores nine goals in huge Preliminary Round 4 Victoria win

Manyluak Aguek’s nine goal performance saw Avondale FC breeze past Diamond Valley in Round 4 of Preliminary Rounds in Victoria.

The former Central Coast Mariners and Western United forward set the standard against Diamond Valley United SC as the 23-year-old grabbed nine goals in Avondale’s destructive 17-0 victory.

After reaching the Round Of 16 in the 2022 edition of the Australia Cup, Zoran Markovski’s men are once again keen to reach the final stages of the nationwide competition and have started the Preliminary Rounds with a statement victory.

The 17-0 victory over Diamond Valley United SC in the Australia Cup Preliminary Rounds is one of many high-scoring wins for Zoran Markovski’s side after they knocked off Moreland City 7-0 in the NPL leading into the Australia Cup clash against Diamond Valley.

With goals coming from all over the park for Avondale, Markovski could not be happier with the performance of the nine-goal man and the team.

“Manny scored 9 goals in the cup game against Diamond Valley, with goals coming from all over the park,” Markovski explained.

“The team energy is high and we have been very pleased with the amount of goals and creative opportunities we are creating from numerous players.

“We will remain focused week by week to achieve our team goals and look forward to the next round in the cup."

For Aguek and Avondale, everything they touch so far this season turns to goals. The NPL Victoria League leaders have scored 36 goals in nine games while Aguek himself has found the back of the net on seven occasions in eight matches.

With three appearances in the A-League Men competition so far, the 23-year-old clearly showed he was a class above his opponents and he gave credit to the coaching staff for letting him lead the frontline.

“Overall it was a fantastic team performance! 17-0,” Aguek said.

“I do want to give credit to the coaches for the game plan and letting me lead the front line and by half time I already had scored 6 goals.

“Coming out into the second half I wanted a bit of a challenge within myself to try and beat my own record.

“Honestly without my teammates and the assists they put in on the day there wouldn’t have been the 9 goals I scored so, I’m just happy that my hard work and efforts have pulled through."
