The 34-year-old, widely regard as one of Australian football’s brightest young coaches lead Olympic to the national rounds in 2018 & 2019.

In 2019 Cahn’s Olympic side reached the Round of 16 where they were edged out 3-2 by eventual champions, Adelaide United thanks to George Blackwood’s 84th minute penalty.

Cahn’s Olympic currently sit top of the NPL Queensland standings with three wins from three and having played some eye catching football so far.

The former Central Coast Mariners Youth Team boss said his side were eager to have another deep run in this season’s competition.

“We’re looking forward to the game, we take the cup very seriously and have aspirations of getting to the national rounds again,” Cahn said.

“We did well against Adelaide in 2019, we were arguably the better team and were unfortunate not to have beaten them so we’ll do what we can to get there and hopefully have another crack.”

Standing in Olympic’s path are Albany Creek Excelsior, who currently lead the league in FQPL2m the third tier of football in Queensland.

Olympic come into off the back off a 3-2 win over Excelsior’s sister club, Moreton Bay United at Albany Creek on Saturday night.

“We had a disrupted pre-season with the floods, with COVID and losing some key players but we’ve had a strong start to the season,” Cahn said.

“Saturday wasn’t the cleanest performance but we did well to come from behind and get a win away against a good team.

“Albany Creek have also started their season well, they’ve got some good players so we know we’re in for a tough game.

“We’ll work hard to keep improving the small details and we’ll be doing everything to take the early momentum we’ve built into the cup this week.”

Olympic’s match up against Albany Creek is one of eleven clashes taking place in South East Queensland as Preliminary Round 4 action kicks off on Tuesday night.
