Kurz: 'underdogs' Adelaide can cause Westfield FFA Cup Final upset

Adelaide United manager Marco Kurz put the pressure on Sydney FC by insisting his side are underdogs for the Westfield FFA Cup Final on Tuesday night.

The Sky Blues returned to the top of the Hyundai A-League over the weekend and are attempting to win the only piece of silverware that eluded them last season.

However, Kurz believes the Reds can defy the odds to spring a surprise at Allianz Stadium.

"Sydney FC is a very good team, a very strong team, the [Hyundai A-League] champions from last year and the favourite," the German said at his pre-match press conference.

"But it's one game and in one game you have the chance as the underdog to win. That's our goal.

"It's a big moment for my boys, we have a young team, and also a big moment for Adelaide United.

Adelaide beat Western Sydney in the Semi-Finals.

"For me, it's important but most important is the team and the club, and then the coach."

Kurz would not reveal whether Johan Absalonsen was likely to play a part although the Danish winger did travel with the team to the Harbour City.

Adelaide must overcome a partisan Sydney crowd if they are to lift the trophy for an unprecedented second time, but captain Isaias did not buy into talk of a disadvantage.

"When I play football I don't see the crowd. For us it doesn't matter," the midfielder said.

"We know we need to play a Final and we need to win it."
