There was no shortage of drama as the Australia Cup Round of 32 got underway on Thursday night.

The night was dominated by sides from Victoria with Bentleigh Greens, Oakleigh Cannons and Avondale all winning their way through to the Round of 16 where they will be joined by South Australian State League One leaders, Modbury Jets.

A a 117th minute strike from substitute Ken Krolicki secured Bentleigh Greens spot in the Round of 16 on a dramatic night at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.

The sides were level for nearly the entirety of the 120 minutes after trading first half goals through George Lambadaridis and Jacob Dowse in the space of a minute.

Substitute goalkeeper, Zac Bowling stole the show after replacing the injured Ben McNamara after 22 minutes.

The young goalkeeper made 14 saves before being beaten by Krolicki at the death as Bentleigh progressed to the last 16 for a fifth time.

Oakleigh Cannons qualified for the Round of 16 for a second time courtesy of a 5-0 win over Bonnyrigg White Eagles at the Bonnyrigg Sports Centre.

An inventive dinked finish from Joe Guest sent the visitors into the break with a 1-0 lead before a Daniel Clark brace was added to by further goals from Chris Lucas and Wade Dekker to seal the Victorian sides passage to the last 16.

Avondale reached the Round of 16 for a second straight season with a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Mindil Aces at Darwin Football Stadium.

Scott Hilliar scored the first goal 2022 Australia Cup Final Rounds to hand the visitors an early lead before cup stalwart Liam Boland bagged a hat-trick for the Avengers.

Substitute, Liston Diaz also chipped in with a second half brace as Avondale reached the competitions last 16 for a third time.

History was made by the Aces when 14-year-old Barney Wood came on as a second half substitute for the home side to become the Australia Cup’s youngest ever player.

Modbury Jets netted five times in an emphatic display to progress to the Round of 16 in their first ever Australia Cup Final Rounds appearance.

It was Armadale who grabbed an early lead thanks to Adriano Jelanovic’s long range strike however the visitors hit scoring through Harrison Conant, Daniel Ditroia, Hamish McCabe and Cameron O’Doherty to lead 4-1 at the break.

Liam McCabe grabbed a fifth for the visitors early in the second half to seal progression for the side from the South Australian second tier.
