For the second time a spot in Asia awaits this year’s Australia Cup Champions.
The Australia Cup winners will be granted one of Australia’s slots in the AFC Cup Group Stage*, meaning clubs from all levels of the Australian football ecosystem can aspire to compete against top sides from around Asia.
Continental qualification was awarded to the Australia Cup winners for the first time in 2021 with Melbourne Victory claiming a spot in the Preliminary Rounds.
Victory took on Andres Iniesta’s Vissel Kobe, going down 4-3 after extra time in a thrilling preliminary round tie at Misaki Park Stadium.
The draw for the Round of 32 of the Australia Cup 2022 took place in Sydney on Wednesday evening, with clubs from across the nation discovering which opponents they will face in Australia’s largest annual knockout sporting competition.
Round of 32 fixtures in the Australia Cup 2022 will commence on Thursday, 21 July 2022, with further match dates pencilled in for 23 July, 24 July, 27 July, 31 July, and 3 August. Next week, Football Australia will release the confirmed fixture list for the Round of 32, where every game will be broadcast exclusively live and free across the nation via 10 Play.
