The current Australia Cup holders, Macarthur FC, will have to defeat Perth Glory in its Playoff match at Darwin Football Stadium if they are to defend their Australia Cup title.
What started as a season with so much promise after winning the 2022 iteration of the competition against Sydney United 58 FC, the Bulls' fortunes quickly turned south and finished with the A-League Men's wooden spoon.
Like last year, the Australia Cup 2023 Playoffs feature the four clubs that finished 9th to 12th in the Isuzu UTE A-League Men 2022/23 regular season.
As a consequence, they will face the Glory, who ended the 2022/23 league campaign in ninth spot. The winner will then face NPL SA side Campbelltown City SC.
Mile Sterjovski remains in charge after initially accepting the head coaching role on an interim basis before subsequently taking the job permanently following Dwight Yorke's departure in January 2023.
