Australia Cup 2023 Preliminary Rounds ready for kick off

The Australia Cup Preliminary Rounds are about to get underway for another year!

The Australia Cup 2023 Preliminary Rounds was due to commence this past weekend, with Ingham FC hosting Burdekin FC in North Queensland.

However, that match was washed out so the first match of 2023 will now take place in Victoria on Thursday 9 February, followed by South Australia and Queensland on Friday 10 February.

Clubs competing in the Australia Cup Preliminary Rounds range from teams in community grassroots leagues up to the second tier of Australian football, the National Premier Leagues (NPL). 
 
Last year a total of 742 clubs competed, with Football Australia’s goal this year to surpass 750 participating clubs for only the second time in the competition’s history.  
 
Like in 2022, leading sports equipment brand Mitre® will be the ‘Official Ball Supplier’ for this year’s Australia Cup. This year’s official match ball, the Mitre® Ultimax Pro, will be unveiled in due course. 
 
Slot allocations for the Australia Cup 2023 Final Rounds have been retained from last season, with the Member Federations being awarded 22 slots and the A-League Men’s the remaining 10 slots.
