Australia Cup Semi Final Preview: Sydney United 58 v Brisbane Roar

Sydney United and Brisbane Roar will battle it out in Australia Cup Semi Final action at Sydney United Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides compete in the final four for the first time with the winner set to face either Oakleigh Cannons or Macarthur FC in the final.

United reached the final four with final round victories over Monaro Panthers, Western United and Peninsula Power.

A Round of 16 penalty shootout triumph over defending A-League Champions Western United captured imaginations around the country. 

Goalkeeper, Danijel Nizic who was the hero in the shootout for Sydney United again made a number of crucial saves in the Quarter Final in a resolute 1-0 win over Peninsula Power.

A stunning Yianni Fragogiannis strike at the other end in the tenth minute proved decisive as United reached the final four.

Brisbane Roar saw off Heidelberg United, Avondale and Adelaide United to reach the Semi Finals for the first time.

Charlie Austin scored his first Brisbane Roar goal to add to a Jay O’Shea rocket as Roar defeated the three time Australia Cup winners on the road in the Quarter Finals.

Henry Hore has top scored for the Roar in the Australia Cup Final Rounds this season with two goals.
