APIA Leichhardt secured its Round of 32 place after a tense encounter over Sydney Olympic, which ended with a comfortable penalty shootout victory thanks to the heroics of Anthony Bouzanis.
The leaders of the NPL NSW Men’s competition powered through the rest of qualifying, scoring goals at ease against lower division sides and only conceding once throughout their campaign to rivals Olympic in their final match of qualifying.
APIA has beaten three A-League Men sides in their three previous appearances in the competition; two came in 2018 to Brisbane Roar and famously against Melbourne Victory, whilst one came two years ago at the expense of Western Sydney Wanderers.
They will be looking to bring similar spirit and quality this campaign, where they face a tough test against Goulburn Valley Suns as they look to continue their streak of making it beyond the Round of 32 stage.
