Cockburn City secured qualification to the Australia Cup final rounds for the first time in over six years with an extra-time victory over Sorrento, defeating their opponents 3-1 away from home.

Daniel Santich put his side ahead after 25 minutes, giving Cockburn City SC a lead into halftime before Tim Hill grabbed the equaliser in the 50th minute for Sorrento.

With the game heading into extra-time, City needed a hero or two. Up stepped Harry O’Brien and Ivan Skorich who netted two goals in 10 minutes to allow Cockburn City to progress to the national stage of the competition.
