Newcastle Jets face Brisbane Roar in the Australia Cup 2023 Round of 32 at Maitland Sportsground on Monday.

The Jets secured their passage to the Final Rounds after defeating Melbourne Victory via the playoffs in Darwin.

Newcastle was seemingly cruising but conceded two late goals in stoppage time as Victory forced another 30 minutes of action.

However, despite Tony Popovic's side's best efforts they succumbed in the shootout losing 4-2.

The victory was former Sydney FC assistant Robert Stanton's maiden win in charge after taking the reins and will be looking for another positive outcome against Brisbane in the Round of 32.
