NSW League One side, NWS Spirit scored a major upset along the way to securing qualification to the Australia Cup Final Rounds when they defeated Wollongong Wolves 5-4 on penalties. 

With neither side able to be separated after 120 minutes, the game headed to the 12-yard spot where David Perkovic’s side were flawless.

Scoring all five of their penalties, the side booked their place within the Australia Cup Round Of 32 with one of the upsets of the preliminary rounds.

Spirit have secured promotion to the NPL NSW for the 2023 season, David Perkovic's  sit behind Western Sydney Wanderers on goal difference in second place on the NSW League One ladder with just one round remaining of the regular season.

Spirit come into Wednesday's match off the back of a 6-1 weekend win over Hills United.

The League One side, NWS Spirit will travel to Queensland where they meet Peninsula Power at A.J. Kelly Park to hope they can score another cupset along the way to a place in the Australia Cup Round Of 16.
