Round of 32 First Time Entrants

The Australia Cup Round of 32 Draw will conducted on Wednesday night with seven sides set to learn their first ever Final Rounds opponents.

Brisbane City, Logan Lightning, Mindil Aces FC, Modbury Jets SC, Monaro Panthers, NWS Spirit FC, and Wollongong United will all make their Final Rounds debuts in 2022.

Brisbane City

Brisbane City secured Round of 32 qualification for the first time in their 70th anniversary season with victories over Yeronga FC, North Pine, Sunshine Coast Wanderers and Lions FC.

Former A-League Championship winner Matt Smith is Player-Coach at City, he’s joined by another former A-League defender Daniel Bowles and 2019 Mike Cockerill Medallist Fraser Hills at CTM Stadium.

City, who last season won the FQPL to earn promotion back to Queensland’s top flight currently sit ninth after 13 rounds of NPL Queensland action.

Logan Lightning

Logan will compete in the Australia Cup Round of 32 for the first time courtesy of wins over Annerley, Pine Hills, Olympic FC and Sunshine Coast Fire.

The side from Cornubia Park are coached by James Coutts and headlined by former Mount Druitt Town Rangers stalwart, Carlos Saliaderre in goals and ex-Brisbane Roar and Western Sydney Wanderers attacker, Dauntae Mariner.

Logan sit tenth in the NPL Queensland standings after 12 matches so far this season.

Mindil Aces

Mindil Aces will represent the Northern Territory for the first time in the Australia Cup in 2022 after defeating Darwin Hearts, Hellenic AC and Casuarina FC on the road to the Round of 32.

Cayne McDowell who top scored for the Aces in qualifying shapes as a key figure on pitch if his side are to become the first from the Terrritory to win a Final Rounds match.

The Aces currently sit second  in the Football Northern Territory standings.

Modbury Jets

Modbury Jets become the first non-NPL side from South Australia when they booked their spot in the Round of 32 following wins over Tea Tree Gully City, South Adelaide, West Adelaide and Vipers FC.

Hamish McCabe top scored for the side from Smith Partners Stadium in a run that included a cupse’ victory over RAA NPLSA outfit South Adelaide.

The Jets currently sit top of the SA State League One ladder and are gunning for promotion as well as a deep cup run this season.

Monaro Panthers

Monaro Panthers will be the ACT’s sole representative in the 2022 Australia Cup Round of 32 after reaching the Final Rounds for the first time with victories over Wagga City Wanderers, ANU FC, Canberra Olympic and West Canberra Wanderers.

The Panthers are coached by Frank Cachia and boast former Brisbane Roar and Sydney FC forward, Kofi Danning amongst their squad.

The side from Riverside Stadium currently sit second on the NPL CF standings after 11 matches so far this season.

NWS Spirit

NSW Spirit reach the Final Rounds for the first time following victories over Coogee United, Hills United, Parramatta FC and Wollongong Wolves

Spirit currently sit fourth on the NSW League One table just two points shy of league leaders Western Sydney Wanderers.

Richard Darko and Goffry Lino have been the sides most potent attacking threats scoring six and five goals respectively in the league so far this season for the side from Christie Park.

Wollongong United

Wollongong United became the first ever local association club from NSW to qualify for the Round of 32 thanks to wins against Peakhurst United, Ettalong FC, Central Coast United. Dunbar Rovers, Blacktown City and St George City.

United, who are coached by 29-year-old Bill Tsovolos only played one game at home on their run to the Round of 32 defeated four sides from league’s higher than them on their cup run.

Mason Versi who scored against his former club as United claimed their biggest scalp against Blactown City shapes as the Illawarra Premier League outfits key man.

The defending Illawarra Premier League Champions sit fifth after playing six matches in a disrupted league campaign so far.

The Australia Cup Round of 32 Live Draw will be conducted on Wednesday, 29 June 2022 at 7.30pm AEST and broadcast LIVE on 10 Play plus streamed via official Australia Cup Facebook and My Football YouTube accounts.
