Three players to watch: Macarthur FC

Australia Cup Final 2022 tickets on sale now

Macarthur FC cut a free-scoring outfit during their run to the Australia Cup Final 2022 and therefore it is no surprise three attacking players are at the centre of this piece.

TICKETS: Australia Cup Final
ROAD TO THE FINAL: Macarthur FC
THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH: Sydney United 58

Ulises Dávila

The Mexican midfielder has been brilliant during the Bulls’ journey to the showpiece event. Dávila scored a brace against Oakleigh Cannons in the Semi-final and his ability to occupy space between the lines, and deliver perfectly weighted passes for his forwards illustrates his quality. He boasts a dangerous left foot and is also adept in carrying the ball forward, combining trickery and guile to deceive his opponents.

Al Hassan Toure

The forward has been on a mission during this season’s iteration of the Australia Cup, and is beginning to recapture the form of 2019 where he exploded in this competition for Adelaide United. That year he scored five goals on his way to winning the trophy and received the Mark Viduka Medal. The 22-year-old already has four goals to his name this time around and provided two assists against the Cannons. Certainly one to closely monitor at CommBank Stadium.

Toure (2.27) is one of only four players in the 2022 Australia Cup with an xG of two or higher.

Toure (6) has made the joint-most carries ending in a shot at goal of any player in the 2022 Australia Cup.

Toure has had 28 touches in the opposition box in the 2022 Australia Cup, the most of any player and 18 more than Sydney United 58 FC’s best (Christopher Payne – 10).

Daniel Arzani

Speaking of players using this competition to hopefully be the catalyst for a successful and productive Isuzu UTE A-League 2022/23 campaign is Daniel Arzani. The forward has been unable to reach the heights that catapulted him to the international stage as he represented the Socceroos at the FIFA World CupÔ 2018. But Arzani, still only 23, has so far hit the ground running with Macarthur, scoring three goals on route to the final. The tricky forward is a handful for defences, with his low centre of gravity and pace allowing him to evade challenges or draw fouls.

Arzani has created 15 scoring chances in the 2022 Australia Cup, two more than any other player in the competition.

Arzani has 2.76 xG in the 2022 Australia Cup, the most of any player in the competition; he has scored three goals in total.

Arzani has made 15 take-ons in the opposition half in the 2022 Australia Cup, the most of any player, while teammate Al Hassan Toure (13) has made the joint-fourth most.
