WATCH: Macarthur FC win 2022 Australia Cup Final

Macarthur FC have been crowned 2022 Australia Cup Winners after defeating Sydney United 58 2-0 in the Final at CommBank Stadium on Saturday night.

A pair of penalties from Al Hassan Toure and Ulises Davila secured the Bulls first ever piece of silverware in Dwight Yorke’s first season as a Head Coach.

Macarthur enjoyed the lions share of possession and chances in the opening half and found a breakthrough in the 32nd minute when Toure converted from the penalty spot after Anthony Tomelic fouled Davila inside the area.

The goal which was Toure’s fifth of the competition sees the 22-year-old attacker finish as the 2022 Australia Cup top goal scorer.

Lachie Rose came close to doubling the Bulls lead early in the second half when he sent his header crashing against the woodwork on the end of a Davila cross.

Dwight Yorke’s side were awarded a second penalty in the 90th minute when Cristian Gonzalez dragged down Macarthur substitute Craig Noone.

Davila, who was awarded the Mark Viduka Medal following an outstanding performance made no mistake from the spot, sending Danijel Nizic the wrong way to seal the title for the Bulls.

Macarthur's Australia Cup triumph sees them earn a spot in the 2023/24 AFC Cup Group Stage.
